Patricia Burkard, General Minister

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities have a long history of serving others through their ministries and corporate works. Our present community numbers 450 members and was formed in 2004 as the result of a new union created by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Virgin, Hastings-On-Hudson, New York, Sisters of the Third Franciscan Order, Syracuse, New York, and Sisters of St. Francis of the Third Order Regular, Williamsville, New York, all of whom had shared common roots and a common history for over 140 years.

We are now known as the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities and our main headquarters is located in Syracuse, New York. In the spirit of our patron, St. Francis of Assisi, our sisters are actively engaged in ministry at all levels of education and religious education, in health care, care of the elderly, dying and the homeless, social ministry, justice education, care for the earth, pastoral and spiritual care and retreat and prayer ministry. They serve in 25 dioceses, which include the Hawaiian Islands, Kenya and Peru.

There are over 200 men and women known as Franciscan Associates and who share our Franciscan spirituality and ministries.

I hope you will use the information on our web site to learn more about who we are, what we do and how to contact us.

I greet you in the various languages of the people we serve and say Welcome, Bienvenido, Karibuni, E Komo Mai to the web site of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities.
