What Your Gifts Support

make_gift.JPGOur sisters’ lives have been touched and enriched by many people over the years. We have been able to make a difference in the lives of those who rely on us, including our own elderly sisters. The sisters are grateful to all of our friends and patrons who are journeying with us. It is through your gifts, your time and your prayers that we are able to continue to build a better tomorrow for those in need.

Your generosity supports all of the following critical areas that enable our community to reach out to those we serve:

 Ministry



Ministry Support and Advancement: “Mission in Action”

For over 150 years, we the Sisters of St. Francis have strived to provide hope, dignity and relief through our numerous ministries.

Your gifts support our commitment to ministering to those in need including support for:

  • Our underfunded sisters working in ministry across the U.S.
  • Our collaborative ministries including Gerard Place, Sisters Place, Franciscan Collaborative Ministries and Nazareth Nursery Montessori School
  • Our spiritual retreat centers in Skaneateles, NY and Millvale, PA
  • Our international ministries in Kenya and Peru

Vocation


Vocations Support: “Inspiring Future Women Religious”
The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities are on the cutting edge of how women religious will serve God’s people into the future.  These are highly educated and inspired women. An active and creative vocation program ensures that women everywhere will have the opportunity to combine their faith convictions with a meaningful life of service to those in need.

 Your gifts support our vocational endeavors including:

  • Funding for “Franciscans in Action” programs
  • Support for our SOSF Associates Program
  • Support for Vocation publications and communications needs
  • Travel subsidies for sisters and sister candidates
  • Funding for a needs and demographic assessment of populations of potential women religious.
       

Formation


Formation Support: “Preparing Franciscan Women of Vision”

The formation process provides aspiring sisters the opportunity to explore every aspect of community life including: education in the rule of the Franciscan Third Order, ministry service, community living, spiritual formation and professional education.

Your gifts support our formation programs by providing:

  • Subsidies for sisters in the novitiate
  • Education, housing and living support for sisters in formation
  • Travel and conference subsidies


Chapel


SOSF Community Support: “Our Common Heart”

Your gifts support the ongoing living expenses for our Community of Sisters including:

  • Sister retirement needs
  • Ongoing upkeep and maintenance of properties
  • In-residence health care facilities and professional care staff for infirmed sisters
  • Safety and age-appropriate facilities upgrades
  • Transportation for sisters
  • Compensation for congregational and regional administrative and operations staff and resources
  •  Jubilees, Feast Days, and Holy Day celebrations and activities

   Peace


Peace and Justice Initiatives – “Commitment to the Common Good”
Since the 1980’s, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities have focused on increasing peace and justice awareness through education and ministry and prayer.

Your gifts support:

  • SOSF membership in regional and national human rights and social justice associations
  • Underfunded sisters in social cause ministries around the U.S.
  • Sisters’ participation in local and regional social action movements and causes.

   Marianne


Saint Marianne Cause – “Elevate, Celebrate and Inspire”
Blessed Marianne Cope, a Sister of St. Francis, is one of only seven women religious in North American History to be canonized. Her canonization would make her only the 11th saint in United States history.

Your gifts support the Saint Marianne Cause in all of the following ways:

  • Ongoing maintenance and upgrades to the Blessed Marianne Shrine and Museum.
  • Local, regional, national and international publication and communications initiatives.
  • Future activities and needs such as travel funding for sisters to Rome and expansion of Visitation Center should Blessed Marianne Cope be canonized
  • Public special events celebrating Blessed Marianne.
