Sister Rose Marie Mullen, RN, BSN, MA, is currently Director of Materials Management at Saint Francis Hospital and Health Centers, Poughkeepsie, NY. She grew up in Oswego, NY at a time when the Syracuse Franciscans had an orphanage there. Mother Marianne taught school in Oswego for a brief period, but that was before her time, of course. She never met the Syracuse Sisters, but is happy to be one with them now.
Sister Rose Marie entered the Sisters of St Francis, Hastings on Hudson, NY in 1959 after working for seven years as a staff Operating Room Nurse at Saint Francis Hospital. Following the Novitiate, she was assigned to the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin, Mt. Loretto, S.I., N.Y., as Health Care Coordinator for 1000 children. Three years later she was missioned to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie where she worked in various staff and supervisory positions in acute care until 1972, when she was assigned to the Operating Room as staff nurse and then Supervisor, a position she held until 1995. From then until now, she has directed the activities of four departments, Purchasing, Linen & Laundry, Printing Services and Supply Processing and Distribution. She is a member of the Board of Trustees, Board Finance and Board Quality Improvement Committees, a member of the Leadership Council, Publication Committee, Staff Quality Improvement, Women's Health and Customer Satisfaction Committees. During her years at Saint Francis she also served several terms as Councilor and Assistant General Minister of the Hastings Community.
