I was born and raised in Hawaii, and upon completion of my novitiate I was prepared for the educational field that I served in for almost 30 years, 20 of them at St. Joseph School in Hoboken, NJ.  I returned to Hawaii in 1992 and ministered at St. Francis Healthcare System as the Mission Leader.

At the chapter of 1999, I was elected to be the Assistant General Minister for four years.  In 2004 I was elected to be one of the four ministers for the Syracuse Region.  However, in 2005, I returned to Hawaii and became the CEO of St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii.

My responsibilities are to collaborate closely with Mission Services, Spiritual Services Department, the Ethics Center and other services to maintain the Catholicity of our ministry.  I must assure that the mission of the Sisters of St. Francis is integrated into all aspects of our ministry.

I work cohesively with all the corporations of St. Francis Healthcare System:

  • St. Francis Medical Center
  • St. Francis Healthcare foundation
  • St. Francis Community Health Services
  • St. Francis Medical Center West
  • St. Francis Enterprises
  • St. Francis Residential Care Community (Franciscan Vistas)
  • Our Lady of Kea’au

I assist in coordinating transition efforts for the alienation of the Medical Centers as well as work with the executive team for the benefit of staff, patients, and physicians.

My interests include studying the body-mind-spirit connection.  This prompts me to practice Qi Gong (an aspect of Traditional Chinese medicine involving the coordination of different breathing patterns with various physical postures and motions of the body) almost daily.  I enjoy the Hawaiian culture, especially music and the hula.  I cherish my trips to Assisi to imbibe the Franciscan spirit.  I look forward to being a better Franciscan by participating in the Franciscan Intellectual Tradition effort.
