FOR PEOPLE OF DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES
Lord, make me an instrument of my peace
Where there is self-criticism, let me sow love
Where I feel guilty, pardon,
Where I doubt my worth, faith
When I despair of being good enough, certainty that I am, have always been,
good enough, no matter how it seems, simply in being
When I feel endarkened, especially by my powerlessness, let there be light
O Divine Partner, grant that I may allow myself to be consoled
That I permit others to reach out to caretake me
Help me to welcome the healing help from others
And to relate to them without having to tend
Let me permit myself whole and healthy friends and safe and successful business
partners
Help me to allow each family member, colleague, friend his or her own timetable for
change in those lives, and to welcome their gifts in my own
Teach me to relate without advice, without interference
Teach me to feel comfortable with those who are not needy
Teach me to acknowledge my fine self daily
Teach me to trust, of self, of others
Teach me to welcome appropriate love
Teach me the power in surrender
For it is in receiving that we are enriched
It is in admitting our own needs that we are strengthened
It is in giving up control that we may truly win
And in these openings we are born to healthy life
