Prayer of Sending Light
We begin by acknowledging that we are concerned -- brothers and sisters in this one universe. Our very being affects every other being -- for good or evil. We believe that thought is energy and energy creates -- that we are capable of both positive and negative energy -- of sharing light or darkness. The thoughtful and faith-filled prayer of Jesus was creative energy. It transformed and transcended space and time. And so can ours! If thought is energy and thought creates, then negative thought, doubt, and fear create negativity. Positive, loving thoughts and energy create what is positive, good and peace-filled.
Our behavior, be it positive or negative can deeply transform the behavior of others. Prayer and meditation transform not only the person who prays but the larger world as well. This makes sense because we believe that we are an inseparable part of the whole.
As each part is transformed, the whole is transformed.
We begin our prayer by acknowledging that God calls us to prayer and with God, our prayer will make a difference. And so we begin in gratitude. We go to prayer with positive energy and gratitude. We go to this simple prayer believing that God’s love and light are already within us and within all creation. We will spend some time sending God’s healing, transforming light where it is needed. We will choose, rather than to send negative energy, to send positive energy. We will thank God that we make this choice and we believe that our prayer will make a difference. I will guide us through a prayer of light which will effect change wherever our prayer is directed.
I INVITE YOU TO CLOSE YOUR EYES, BECOME COMFORTABLE IN YOUR CHAIR, FEET ON THE FLOOR AND HANDS RESTING IN YOUR LAP AS WE MOVE INTO STILLNESS.
Breathe in deeply and hold. Breathe out. We know God is holy.
Breathe in deeply and hold. Breathe out. We know the world is holy.
Breathe in deeply and hold. Breathe out. We know that we are holy.
Allow everything to drift slowly away from you: your concerns, any stress, any worries or tensions. Leave them with God for now.
