Lovejoy area celebrates 125 years of service by Sister of St. Francis

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities have blessed the Lovejoy neighborhood for 125 years as educators, pastoral assistants, food pantry facilitators and volunteers.

The sisters have reached out to the children, families and individuals in an effort to bring them the message of hope and peace through action and service.


Sisters of St. Francis who ministered to the Lovejoy community include (standing from left) Sister Margaret Mary Foley, Sister M. In celebration of their 125th anniversary, the neighborhood community  held a reception in honor of the sisters on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Iron Island Museum, 998 East Lovejoy St., Buffalo. All those whose lives have been touched by this Franciscan presence were welcomed to join in this expression of gratitude. A reception was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Light refreshments were served.
