Alverna Heights is a former farm consisting of 180 acres.  The vision developed for Alverna Heights is that it will be a Franciscan spirituality and nature center offering opportunities for prayer, private retreats and programs with time to enjoy God and nature.  This vision includes the hope that Alverna Heights can be a model for healthy human relationships with creation and will offer people the opportunity to explore the relationship between people and the earth as a means for encountering and deepening their relationship with God.  Alverna Heights is home to our Hermitage life and experience.  There is a pool that is offered as a form of relaxation for our sisters and for those who come to Alverna Heights.  During the summer we offer a one week peace camp, Camp Alverna, for inner city youth.  This has been expanded to include a one-day camp during the winter school break that allows inner city young people to enjoy snowshoeing and winter crafts.  Alverna Heights is in need of much renovation and improvements as we gradually introduce new ideas for our stewardship of this property.  This is not a sponsored ministry.  Alverna Heights is a project and program supported by Leadership.
